The Huacachina Lagoon<\/strong> is located 5 km from the city of Ica, just in a small town called Huacachina. In addition to the beauty of the place, people fall in love with this place because of the magical Legend that has its history.<\/p>\n

In the legend it is related that a maiden, named Huacay China<\/strong>, fell in love with a young warrior, the bravest of all, married him. A short time later she had to go to war to fight and in battle she died.<\/p>\n

Huacay, devastated, went crying to the place where she met her great love. There she cried non-stop for several days and with her tears she managed to form a small lagoon.<\/p>\n

One day a young warrior passed by and stood looking at Huacay China<\/strong>; scared she threw herself into the lagoon. She remained there for hours until the warrior left.<\/p>\n

Upon leaving, Huacay realized that he no longer had legs, he had become a mermaid. Since then, the inhabitants of Huacachina<\/strong> tell that each new moon, the maiden comes out of the water to cry for her beloved.<\/p>\n

Despite this legend held by the inhabitants of the area, the history of the Huacachina Lagoon<\/strong> is a little longer. The story takes place during the first decades of the 20th century, when its waters were believed to have healing properties.<\/p>\n

It was the preferred seaside resort for the upper classes of Lima, including President Augusto Legu\u00eda and Salcedo and the painter, poet \u2013and boxer- S\u00e9rvulo Guti\u00e9rrez.<\/p>\n
